Rajouri, Apr 03: A brief ceremony was held at the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University on Wednesday to celebrate the placement of eleven students in two prominent multinational corporations, namely Insurance Dekho and RJ Solar.
Chaired by the esteemed Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Akbar Masood, the progrJammu, Apr 03: Director of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Jammu, S. Arvinder Singh Reen, on Wednesday visited the Controlled Conditioned Cropping Unit for mushroom cultivation situated at village Chatha Gujran, Panchayat Karloop, in the sub-division of Marh, Jammu. The purpose of the visit was to recognize the commendable initiative undertaken by Aman Sharma, a young graduate entrepreneur from Village Marh, in establishing a year-round mushroom cultivation unit just 45 days ago.
Since its inception, Aman Sharma’s mushroom unit has demonstrated significant potential, yielding earnings of rupees one lakh within a short span. Operating under controlled conditions, the unit ensures optimal growth and yield, distinguishing itself by providing consistent yields throughout the year. Through strategic planning, farmers can harvest five crops annually, including two seasonal and three non-seasonal crops, thereby doubling profits, especially during off-season periods.
Director Arvinder Singh Reen underscored the importance of such ventures in diversifying agriculture and enhancing farmers’ income. He lauded Aman Sharma for his innovative approach and commitment to advancing the agricultural sector. The presence of the Director Agriculture Jammu during the visit highlighted the department’s support and encouragement for entrepreneurial initiatives in agriculture. Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Marh, Vikram Katyal, along with staff, accompanied the Director during the visit.
Aman Sharma provided insights into his venture, emphasizing the employment opportunities it has generated. Alongside his own involvement, the unit has created jobs for two permanent employees and employed 10 individuals on a daily basis. With 1800 mushroom bags set up in the unit, there is considerable potential for further expansion and employment creation.
This visit serves as a testament to the transformative impact of innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture. Aman Sharma’s success story in mushroom cultivation sets a precedent for aspiring entrepreneurs and highlights the potential for sustainable agricultural practices in Jammu and beyond.
