DIPR Shopian, Cultural unit DIPR & RDD host celebrations

  Shopian, Sep 25: As part of the nationwide Sewa Parv – 2025 celebrations, a special programme on cleanliness, waste segregation and plastic-free environment was today organized by DIPR Shopian, Cultural Unit DIPR Kashmir in collaboration with RDD Shopian at Common Facility Centre (CFC) Zainapora. According to a statement issued here, the event laid special emphasis on cleanliness drives, segregation of waste and curbing the use of plastic in line with the government’s vision of promoting a sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle. Addressing the gathering, Assistant Commissioner Development highlighted that community participation is vital for achieving the goals of Swachh Bharat and a plastic-free environment. He urged the students to become ambassadors of change by practicing and promoting waste segregation at source, discouraging single-use plastics and spreading awareness among their families. During the programme, sanitation and awareness drives were carried out through Zainapora market, involving enthusiastic participation of teachers, school children, local public and volunteers. A skit on the theme of cleanliness and environmental conservation, organised by DIPR Shopian and Cultural Unit DIPR Kashmir was also presented by ‘Tulkul Art and Media Collective’ Chadoora leaving a strong message for society. School Children of Zainapora also presented a cultural programme on the occasion regarding cleanliness. BDO, Zainapora also sensitized the participants about the hazards of plastic pollution, importance of waste management and the role of citizens in maintaining a clean and green environment. A large number of people besides students of various educational institutions participated in the event.
