Bandipora, May 27: In a significant development, the Bandipora District Hospital is set to commence Upper GI Endoscopy services from next week, bringing relief to the people of Bandipora.
This initiative is aimed at providing advanced medical care locally, reducing the need for patients to travel to city hospitals for the procedure.
Javid Ahmad, a local told Rising Kashmir that the introduction of Upper GI Endoscopy at the district hospital is expected to have a profound impact on the healthcare landscape of Bandipora.
Previously, patients requiring this specialized diagnostic procedure had to endure long journeys to city hospitals, incurring additional expenses and inconvenience. However, with the availability of this service at their doorstep, patients, especially those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, will now have access to high-quality healthcare without having to travel far, he said.
Another local Mudasir Ahmad said, “this is truly a blessing for us. Previously, we had to travel long distances and spend a lot of money for Upper GI Endoscopy. Now, we can get the same treatment here, close to our homes. It will save us time, money, and the hassle of traveling.”

Fatima Begum, another local echoed the sentiment said that the introduction of Upper GI Endoscopy in district hospital Bandipora is a great relief which will be especially beneficial for poor patients who cannot afford to travel and bear the expenses of city hospitals. This step will improve accessibility to essential medical services for everyone,  she said.
The availability of Upper GI Endoscopy services in Bandipora will not only enhance convenience for patients but also reduce the burden on city hospitals, ensuring better distribution of healthcare resources, said a local social activist Abdullah Paswal.
Medical Superintendent District Hospital Bandipora while highlighting the significance of this development said that the introduction of Upper GI Endoscopy services at the hospital will greatly enhance diagnostic capabilities of doctors. “We can now provide accurate and timely diagnosis, leading to more effective treatment outcomes for our patients”, he said.
