Jammu, Jan 18: Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, R R Swain has approved scholarships amounting to approximately Rs 19 lakh for 374 wards of serving, retired and deceased police personnel. The scholarships are awarded under various orders issued by the Police Headquarters.
Under one order, meritorious scholarships totalling Rs 17,42,000 have been sanctioned for 344 wards of serving police personnel who secured 80 percent and above marks in the class 10th annual examination for the academic session 2022-23, a police spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
Among these, Rs 6,000 each has been granted to 183 wards scoring above 90 percent marks, while Rs 4000 each has been awarded to 131 wards securing above 80 percent marks, he added.
The top five meritorious wards include Tabasum Amin, Mohammad Fahd Mir, Rabiya Mir, Nimreesa Nisar, and Numair Javaid Noori, all achieving outstanding percentages in their examinations.
In another order, a scholarship of Rs 1.3 lakh has been sanctioned for 26 wards of deceased police personnel, with Rs 5,000 each granted out of the Central Police Welfare Fund.
Additionally, scholarships have been approved for four wards of retired police personnel. Sehdev Sharma, securing above 90 percent marks in the 12th class examination, will receive Rs 7,200, while Kifayat Rehman, with 90 percent marks in the 10th class examination, will be awarded Rs 6,000. Rizwan Bashir and Faizan Hamid Rah, securing above 80% marks in the class 10th annual examination, will each receive Rs 4,000.
The meritorious scholarship schemes of the Jammu and Kashmir Police encompass various categories, rewarding the exceptional academic performance of wards belonging to serving, deceased, and martyred police personnel, as well as Special Police Officers (SPOs), the spokesperson said, adding, “Special incentives are also provided for outstanding achievements in college, university, and technical courses, along with rewards for success in competitive exams such as UPSC, JKPSC, NEET, NET, CSIR and more.”
