DGP, J&K reviews security preparedness for upcoming LS elections in Anantnag

Srinagar, Apr 22: In a concerted effort to ensure the safe and successful conduct of the upcoming LokSabha elections, Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu & Kashmir, R.R Swain chaired a joint officers meeting in Anantnag District of south Kashmir today.
The meeting, attended by senior officers from various security forces and intelligence agencies, aimed to assess the security preparedness for the electoral process.
During the deliberations, the DGP engaged in detailed discussions with officers from the J&K Police, CRPF, Army, ITBP, BSF, SSB, and intelligence agencies. The focus was on evaluating the security arrangements in place and soliciting inputs on planned projects to ensure the elections proceed smoothly and securely.
Key areas of discussion included election preparedness, logistical and administrative arrangements, coordination among security forces, and strategies to address potential challenges during the election period. Additionally, arrangements for deployed personnel, including accommodation, healthcare, and other essential facilities, were thoroughly reviewed, considering the prevailing weather conditions.
A paramount emphasis was placed on joint area domination by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Police, and Army before and during the election period to maintain operational efficiency and coordination. The importance of briefing key personnel and Coy Commanders on their roles and responsibilities, along with providing real-time updates on security situations, was underscored.
Addressing the gathering, DGP Swain reiterated the importance of implementing the action plan rigorously to ensure the security of candidates and polling booths. He stressed the efficient deployment of security arrangements, especially in sensitive areas. The meeting reaffirmed the collective commitment of all forces to uphold democratic values and principles, safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.
The meeting witnessed the presence of senior officials including ADG CRPF Rajesh Kumar, ADGP L&O, J&K, Vijay Kumar, GoC Victor Force Maj General Balbir Singh, IG CRPF (SOS) Ajay Kumar Yadav, IG CRPF (KOS) G.K Verma, IG BSF Ashok Yadav, IGP Kashmir Zone V.K Birdi, DIsG Police (SKR), CRPF, SSB, and ITBP, along with Sector Commanders and District SSsP of South Kashmir Range, and SSP Budgam.
