DGFT grants extension to KCCI

Srinagar, Sept 26: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has received a positive response from the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) regarding their representation against the delisting of their authority to issue Certificates of Origin (Non-preferential) to exporters.
According to KCCI, Director General of Foreign Trade Santosh Kumar Sarangi has taken prompt action on KCCI’s representation. “The DGFT has decided to extend the time for KCCI to complete its ON-BOARDING process with the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL). This decision will lead to a re-notification in the Appendix 2E of FTP,” reads the statement.
It’s worth noting that KCCI faced de-listing as an authorised Chamber for issuing Certificates of Origin due to its failure to ON-BOARD on e-CoO on the Common Digital Platform, as per Trade Notice No 42/2020-21 dated February 19, 2021.
KCCI said that it acknowledges the support of its members and the concerned civil society members during this challenging time. “The exporter community has welcomed DGFT’s decision, bringing relief. However, KCCI expresses its disappointment over the irresponsible conduct of individuals who attempted to exploit the situation for their own interests.”
