Jammu Aug 31: The Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K remains committed to enhancing sports infrastructure and facilities to benefit athletes and sports enthusiasts in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
In this direction, Rajinder Singh Tara, Director General Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K convened a meeting of the Engineering wing and officers of the planning section of the Directorate of YSS at Khel Gaon here to assess the progress of various sports projects at Khel Gaon.
During the meeting, he conducted a thorough physical inspection and evaluation of both ongoing and completed projects including the Synthetic Athletic Track, Football field, Lawn Tennis court, Cycling Track, Iron Net Fencing around the upper ground, Indoor Multipurpose Hall, Flood protection Works from the River Side, Construction of bore wells, and Construction of approach road.
DG issued on-spot directions to the Engineering wing to ensure the timely completion of ongoing projects in order to prevent any cost escalation.
On his visit to Khel Goan he also inaugurated the Inter-Divisional UT Level competitions conducted for selecting UT level teams for the 63rd Edition of Subroto Mukherjee Cup being organised at New Delhi. DG YSS interacted with the players of the participating teams. While encouraging them with words of encouragement, he guided them to play with team spirit and dedication to achieving their goals.
Later-on DG YSS visited Youth Hostel Nagrota. He inaugurated the Inter-Division UT Level Taekwondo competitions here. He also inspected the hostel building of Youth Hostel to ensure that all necessary facilities for the sports fraternity and the participants of different sports events are being adequately provided by the Department.
Director General YSS was accompanied by the Joint Director YSS Jammu, Deputy Director Central, Deputy Director Planning, Accounts Officer, Engineering Wing of Sports Council and other senior officers and officials of the Department of YSS J&K.
