Srinagar, Dec 25: Liver Surgery Workshop was conducted by the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology SKIMS under able leadership of Prof Sadaf Ali, Head Department of Surgical Gastroenterology along with her team Dr. Mohamad Younis Bhat, Dr. Mohd Riyaz Lattoo, Dr. Nayeem ul Hassan, Dr. Ajay vane, Dr. Pravesh Mathur Dr Younis Ahmad Mir, and Dr Sonam Gupta.
The Chief Surgeon for this programme was world renowned Liver Transplant Surgeon Prof Shaleen Agarwal from Max Hospital New Delhi. Three major Liver resection surgeries were performed which included Right Extended Hepatectomy, Right Posterior Hepatectomy and Left Hepatectomy for various cancerous indications.
The department was able to accomplish this workshop with strong adminstrative support from Director SKIMS, Prof Parvaiz A koul. The programme went uneventful with all logistic support from our anesthesia team headed by Prof Showkat A Gurkoo, along with Prof Talib A Khan and Dr. Iqra Nazir.
SKIMS also has an excellent team of technical and nursing staff to accomplish these kind of complex procedures lead by Mrs Shameem. This kind of workshop in the Department which is already known to be one of best Gastrointestinal Surgery Departments in country, would open up new horizons of Liver Transplantation surgery at SKIMS SOURA Srinagar.
