Shopian, Oct 07: The District Election Office, Shopian has made all required and proper arrangements as per ECI guidelines to ensure smooth and hassle free counting process for the Zainapora and Shopian Assembly Constituencies.
The counting halls set up for each Assembly Constituency of the district at Mini Secretariat, Shopian are equipped with necessary facilities along with deployment of adequate staff for the purpose of the counting process.
10 counting counters have been established in each Assembly Constituency, manned by Counting Supervisors, Assistants and Micro observers to ensure smooth and timely completion of the counting besides separate counters for postal ballots and ETPBS have also been set up. The entire counting process shall be observed by Counting Observers appointed by ECI.
The CCTVs and Videography provisions have also been made available along with a sufficient number of data entry staff and IT equipment to see to the timely updates of the results.
The media centre has also been established to facilitate the authorised Media persons with timely updates of the counting process through PAS announcements and screening through LED Displays.
Like the voting day updates, the administration shall also telecast round wise results of the counting process through Municipal Council screens across the town for the information of the general public.
Proper arrangements for seating have been made for contesting candidates and counting agents.
To see that all arrangements are in place, DEO Shopian visited the counting halls and Media Centre and took review of arrangements.
Final round of training held for counting supervisors
The District Election Office Shopian today conducted final round of training programme for Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants and Micro-Observers at Mini Secretariat Shopian to acquaint them about counting procedures for conducting counting of votes smoothly on October, 08 as per ECI guidelines.
District Election Officer (DEO) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar also attended the training session and addressed the staff deployed for counting duties.
DEO addressed the staff and called for strict adherence to the rules and procedures during the counting process while performing the duties with integrity and fairness.
He also emphasized on maintaining discipline and to upheld complete privacy on the day of counting.
District Level Master Trainers provided detailed training sessions to prepare skilled and competent manpower for the counting of votes for two Assembly Constituencies of 36-Zainapora and 37-Shopian.
During the sessions of training, the participants were provided procedural know-how for the smooth execution of the counting process including practical demonstration of handling of EVM, counting procedures, adhering to protocols of ECI.
RO Shopian, Shakoor Ahmad; RO Zainapora, Nisar Ahmad; Dy.DEO Jahanger Ahmad and other officers were also present on the occasion.
