Kishtwar, Sept 26: District Election Officer (DEO) Rajesh Kumar Shavan, accompanied by SSP Abdul Qayoom, on Thursday visited the proposed venue for the counting of votes for Assembly Election.
The team also inspected the strong rooms at Kendriya Vidyalaya, where the polled Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from the recent Assembly Election have been securely stored.

The inspection included a detailed examination of the log Register, CCTV cameras, and the control room. The DEO emphasized the importance of maintaining a flawless security setup round the clock. The key focus of the inspection was to take stock of the Counting centers to be established adjacent to the strong room for the counting day.He was satisfied with the preparations made by the ROs with the assistance of PWD.
Later, the Officer held a comprehensive interactive meeting with Master Trainers including District Level Master Trainers (DLMTs) and Assembly Level Master Trainers (ALMTs) in preparation for the upcoming counting day on October 8, 2024, under the Assembly Elections. The meeting focused on fine-tuning the district’s preparedness to ensure a smooth and efficient counting process.
He lauded the role played by the Master trainers for training the staff and polling parties who exhibited the full accuracy of the procedure. He extended the congratulations to the Master Trainers on behalf of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K, acknowledging their pivotal role in the successful conduct of the Assembly Elections across the district.
DEO further instructed Election Naib Tehsildar Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Jasrotia, to closely coordinate with the MTs to initiate training sessions for the staff involved in the counting process, strictly adhering to the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines. The key aspects discussed during the meeting included the training of manpower for counting duties, the establishment of a media cell for real-time dissemination of counting updates, a detailed road and traffic management plan, and of victory processions in the town if any post counting etc.
