Srinagar, May 31: A hoax bomb threat targeting a Srinagar-bound Vistara flight carrying 177 passengers and one infant prompted a swift response from Srinagar airport authorities and security forces on Friday.
According to airport officials, the Vistara flight (UK-611) that departed from Delhi received a bomb threat while enroute to Srinagar. Upon receiving the information, security officials and airport authorities promptly initiated actions to ensure the safety and security of all passengers.
Public Relations Officer Vistara Airlines said that those established protocols were promptly followed, with relevant authorities immediately notified.
“In accordance with protocol, we promptly alerted the relevant authorities. Upon touchdown at Srinagar International Airport, the aircraft was directed to the isolation bay, where all passengers disembarked.
“We fully cooperated with authorities for mandatory security checks. Following thorough inspections, the aircraft has been cleared to resume operations. Safety and security remain our paramount concern at Vistara,” he said.
Subsequently, Srinagar Airport authorities collaborated with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) upon receiving a bomb threat call targeting Vistara flight UK611 from Delhi.
“Upon receipt of the threatening call by ATC Srinagar, prompt action was initiated. The CISF, in conjunction with airport authorities, swiftly responded to the situation,” they elaborated.
Despite the disruption, the threat was deemed ‘non-credible’, and normal operations resumed shortly afterward. All passengers were reported safe, with stringent security measures implemented to ensure their ongoing safety.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case in this regard, and investigations are currently underway. Flight operations, which were temporarily halted, resumed later.
Authorities have initiated investigations into the origin of the threat call, the officials further added.
Director Srinagar International Airport, JavedAnjum said that flights operations were suspended for sometime and after that all flights operated normally as per their schedule.
