Srinagar, May 15: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a proclaimed offender carrying a cash reward of Rs 50,000 from Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a fraud case registered at Mahendra Park Police Station, officials said .

According to police sources, the accused had allegedly been absconding for several years and was evading arrest by frequently changing his hideouts and mobile SIM cards. Authorities stated that multiple attempts had earlier been made to trace him, but he managed to avoid detection for a prolonged period.

Officials said the Crime Branch launched a sustained investigation using technical surveillance, human intelligence, and analysis of old mobile phone records. Investigators reportedly examined communication patterns and decade-old mobile data to track the suspect’s movements and identify possible locations.

Based on fresh technical inputs, the accused was traced to the Fruit and Vegetable Market area in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. A team of Crime Branch officers subsequently conducted a raid and apprehended him without incident, police said.

The accused was declared a proclaimed offender by a competent court in connection with the fraud case registered at Mahendra Park Police Station. Police officials added that he had allegedly been changing locations regularly to avoid arrest and conceal his identity.

The Delhi Police said the arrest was the result of coordinated intelligence gathering and persistent field operations carried out over an extended period.

Further investigation into the case is underway. Police are also examining whether the accused was involved in additional fraud-related activities or had links to other pending cases.

Authorities have not yet disclosed further personal details of the accused, and the allegations against him are subject to judicial scrutiny before the court of law.
