Srinagar, Feb 15: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference State Secretary Sakina Itoo on Wednesday presided over a meeting of district committee Kulgam at Rest House Chawalgam, Kulgam.
Concurring with the insights of sections of the party functionaries regarding the indifference of administration towards the issues faced by the public, Sakina said that the democratic decline in Jammu and Kashmir has affected everyone and that every single sector of the region ranging from economy to public welfare has taken a direct hit.
She said the decision-making process reflects both centralisation of power and unilateralism.
“Bureaucracy has chosen to remain blindfolded to people’s woes. When contacted, they don’t even care to respond.  It is a clear manifestation of the inordinate delay in the restoration of a popular government  that has sowed the seeds of unaccountability in governance,” she alleged.
The NC leader said the regression of democracy has had a cascading effect on the local economy, business, trade, handicraft, horticulture, agriculture, employability, public utility services, education, and health care sector. Situation across Kulgam is no different.
Extolling the party functionaries on their role in raising issues of public importance, Sakina said that the party’s youth leaders have a greater role to play to develop a clear understanding of the party’s policies, priorities, and perspective at multiple fronts in wake of the big challenges that have surfaced post 2019 measures.
In his address Imran Nabi Dar said, “The youth associated with the party have to work on mass fronts now and reach greater audiences, particularly educated youth through various social media forums.”
“The need for such an approach becomes all the more necessary given the big and far-reaching changes that were brought here in J&K. Our youth brigade has to take a lead in reaching out to people with the party’s vision and mission,” he added.
For NC to deepen its roots even more than before, Imran said, “It is imperative for our  district functionaries to value workers.” He added that strengthening the bottom-up model holds the key to making the party stronger to take on the challenges in the future.
