Budgam, Feb 17: The District Employment and Counselling Centre (DE&CC), Budgam, in collaboration with District Administration Budgam, hosted a one-day Job Fair at Town Hall in Beerwah on Saturday. In which a total of 302 candidates were selected for the second round of interviews.
The event was inaugurated by Chairman of the District Development Council, Nazir Ahmad Khan, and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Budgam, Akshay Labroo.
The Job Fair attracted a large crowd, with 763 participants and 17 companies offering more than 1000 job vacancies.
In addition to the selection of 302 candidates for the next round, the event emphasized the promotion of self-employment schemes and skill development.
A total of 527 offline registrations were received, and 207 candidates signed up for skill development courses.
Deputy Commissioner of Budgam said that that this was the fourth job fair organized under the guidance of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in recent months. He emphasized the importance of providing employment opportunities to students and youth in the district.
Labroo said that numerous local youth had been shortlisted by private companies for further interviews in the four job fairs held across different areas of Budgam district. He encouraged employed youth to actively engage in such job fairs to maximize the benefits of these placement drives.
Furthermore, he announced that similar events would be organized in other parts of the district in the future.
“The District Administration of Budgam plans to train unemployed youth through the District Skill Development Plan to bridge the gap between the skills of youth and the requirements of job-providing companies,” Labroo said.
Nazir Ahmad Khan, Chairman DDC Budgam, appreciated the District Administration for organising such events to address unemployment issues in the district.
