DDC Kulgam urges inter-departmental coord to ensure water availability

Kulgam, June 25: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today reviewed the irrigation status and water availability in all 48 major canals and irrigation systems across the district.

During the meeting discussions were held on water availability, canal head status, command area status, besides irrigation coverage as of today was reviewed for canals including Noorabad canal, Watoo canal, Yari canal, Grimtoo canal, Buman, Banimullah canal, Sonman canal, Mav canal, Amnoo Lad, Bani Lad, Tethbuji, Hardchoon, Nandi Canal, etc.

DDC issued directions to officials of Irrigation, RDD, Revenue, Mining departments to stay available on field in their respective areas and ensure issues are timely resolved.

It was informed that 24*7 Control Room has been made operational.

DDC also instructed that no employee shall leave headquarters without specific permission from district administration.

He instructed that for tail end areas of canals, special efforts by way of warbandi, manpower mobilization and leakage reduction of canals shall be taken.

Ex. Engineer Irrigation was directed to coordinate with Tehsildars to redress the issues with respect to Nandi Canal which is at the tail end of the district.
