DDC Doda Chairs DRSC meeting

Doda, Sep 21: To assess the availability and requirement of infrastructure and allied issues for road safety, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan chaired the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting here in the mini meeting hall to DC office.
The DDC directed the ARTO to conduct orientation cum counselling sessions for both government and commercial vehicle drivers starting with the former.
The concerned executing agencies were asked to take measures for a third party safety audit of the roads in the district and submit the report.
A Committee headed by ADC Doda with ASP, ARTO, CMO, Dy SP traffic was constituted to study and work out the traffic load, traffic flow of passengers on different routes and availability of the public transport including population to vehicle ratio to work out need for issuing further commercial permits on requirement basis for specific routes.
The DC further directed ARTO Doda to work out a proposal to regulate the private vehicles plying as taxis on different routes.
The mandatory installation of GPS on all the commercial vehicles, Ambulances, JCBs and official vehicles as per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules was also stressed upon. The installation of speed governors in all the commercial vehicles was also ordered. The Chair instructed the Member Secretary to circulate Road safety Action Plan among the members to seek comments on the drafted action plan. The DC also directed to create a toll free dedicated number for emergency medical services.
The DRSC also discussed the implementation of previous decisions, and, Road safety funds, iRAD and progress made in the establishment of National Institute of Driving Training, testing and Research at Doda.
The meeting was attended by SSP Doda, ADC Bhaderwah, SE PWD, SE PMGSY, CMO, CEO, ARTO, GM NHIDCL, DIO Doda, Executive Engineers of PWD & PMGSY, representative of OC 114 RCC (GREF), DTI traffic, EO MC Bhaderwah, and representatives of other members of the DRSC.
