Srinagar, May 06: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Tuesday chaired a review and felicitation meeting on the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) at the DC Office Complex to assess progress and recognise key contributors under the TB-Free Panchayat initiative for 2024.
Commending the Health Department and associated teams, Dr Bilal emphasised the need to sustain momentum and strengthen grassroots efforts to eliminate TB. He credited the collective work of the administration, health officials, Panchayat staff, and community workers for the district’s progress.
District Tuberculosis Officer, Dr Abdul Rouf, presented an overview of Srinagar’s achievements, noting that all 21 Panchayats have maintained Silver Category TB-Free status for two consecutive years — a major public health accomplishment. He also highlighted the need for additional NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) machines to boost diagnostic capacity and enable timely treatment.
