Poonch, Feb 18: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch, Vikas Kundal, Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the progress of ongoing works under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in the district.
During the meeting, the concerned executing agency presented a detailed PowerPoint briefing on the current status of the RDSS projects. The scheme aims to strengthen the power distribution infrastructure in Poonch, with key components including the installation of 11,000 poles, laying of Low-Tension Aerial Bunched Cables (LT ABC), and the addition of 500 new distribution transformers to augment and replace outdated equipment. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses in the district.
DC Vikas Kundal thoroughly inquired about various components such as material supply status, feeder wise current status of work, feeder-wise erection status of major items like poles, conductors, LT AB cables, and the augmentation and replacement of transformers, along with other progress related to the scheme.
He instructed the concerned Junior Engineers (JEs) to conduct onsite checks for the installation of poles and other major electricity items, emphasizing the importance of geo-tagged photos for maintaining records of the ongoing work. Furthermore, he directed a crackdown on electricity theft and the illegal bypassing of meters, stressing the need to impose penalties on defaulters under relevant laws. Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal also instructed the executing agency to ensure that all ongoing works under the scheme are completed within the established timelines, aiming for the overall improvement of the power scenario in Poonch.
