DC reviews arrangements for upcoming festivals in Poonch

Poonch, March 14: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal Friday convened a meeting with officers from different departments, civil society members and religious heads to review the arrangements for the upcoming Eid and Navratra festivals.
The meeting focused provision of safe drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, medical aid services, sanitation, and fire safety measures, street lighting, cleanliness and smooth transport management across the district. The Deputy Commissioner issued directives to the heads of different departments, emphasizing meticulous planning and execution in their respective areas of responsibility. Particular attention was given to security to mitigate any potential untoward incidents during the festive period. Civil society’s cooperation was encouraged to uphold the successful celebration of all the festivals in the town.
The representatives of religious institutions apprised the Deputy Commissioner about various issues, in response to which the DC assured their resolution on priority basis. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, harmony and brotherhood during the festivals and appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration in ensuring smooth celebrations. The meeting was attended by ADC Poonch, ASP, ACR, SDM Mendhar/Surankote, Tehsildar and other concerned stakeholders

Fervour, gaiety mark Holi celebration in Poonch
Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shafkat Hussain Bhat Friday greeted people during their visit to the Sanatan Dharam Sabha amid a vibrant celebration of Holi.
The event brought together residents and members of the Management Committee, fostering a spirit of harmony and togetherness. The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the significance of unity and joy that Holi represents. He encouraged everyone to celebrate the festival in a manner that reinforces communal values and strengthens bonds among individuals.
