Pulwama, Aug 10: A mega Tiranga (tricolour) rally in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday morning garnered widespread participation and praise.
The event, led by Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom, marked the beginning of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in the district.
The rally commenced at Boys Degree College Pulwama and concluded at the Women’s College Pulwama. It saw the enthusiastic participation of district officers from the civil and police administrations, alongside students and local residents.
Speaking to the media persons, the DC Pulwama said that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is an initiative of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, aimed at celebrating the national flag across the country, including all districts of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
He expressed his satisfaction with the turnout and the spirit of unity displayed by the people of Pulwama. “I am happy to witness that people from every area of Pulwama participated in the Tiranga rally,” he said, hailing the participation of a diverse cross-section of the community.
Dr Basharat outlined various components of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, which includes the Tiranga rally, tributes to martyrs and freedom fighters, and slogan canvassing.
The participants also observed the “Ek Ped Shaheedoon Ke Naam” programme as part of the campaign’s activities.
The DC congratulated the people of Pulwama, as well as all stakeholders, including the participating government departments, for their efforts in making the rally a success. He expressed optimism that the community would continue to engage with the campaign as it progresses toward Independence Day on August 15.
“The campaign will continue till Independence Day, and I am hopeful that people will take part in different components in large numbers,” Dr Qayoom said.
