The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom Monday chaired a pivotal district-level commitee meeting aimed at finalizing beneficiaries for various components of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
The comprehensive meeting involved a meticulous review of projects under the Agriculture, HPMC (Horticulture Produce Marketing Committee) and Animal Husbandry Departments.
During the deliberations, DC emphasized the need for transparent beneficiary selection, seeking clarification on qualifying criteria to ensure fairness and eligibility. The review covered a wide array of projects within the Agriculture department, spanning seed distribution, saffron nursery creation, promotion of exotic vegetables, area expansion of vegetables, beekeeping and other vital initiatives.
A detailed scrutiny of 26 Agriculture department projects, with a total subsidy amounting to 108 lacs, was conducted. The DC approved several projects, emphasizing the importance of narrowing the gap between targets and applications. In some instances, draw of lots was employed to ensure impartial selection.
Turning attention to the HPMC department, the DC urged for increased application submissions to enhance transparency and foster healthy competition. Directives were issued to organize awareness camps to inform a wider audience about available opportunities.
In the Animal Husbandry department, the DC stressed the necessity of expanding awareness about schemes and advocated for the implementation of draw of lots to ensure a fair selection process.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to advancing the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme’s objectives, promoting inclusivity, and maximizing the impact of agricultural initiatives in the district.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Pulwama, ACD Pulwama, ACR Pulwama and various District officers.
