Kupwara, Aug 14: Under ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan in presence of Vice Chairman DDC, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir on Monday chaired a farmers awareness camp at Town Hall Kupwara.
Addressing farmers, the DC said that Kupwara being a rural area offers a good potential for agricultural and allied activities and asked the farmers to scale up their activities by taking benefits under various agriculture schemes of the Government. She stressed upon the concerned officers to be proactive on ground in hand holding of farmers.
Ayushi sought active involvement of all stakeholders including farmers in contributing towards agricultural activities which will boost the economy and livelihood of the people in the district.
Vice Chairman DDC, Haji Farooq expressed gratitude towards the UT Government and District Administration in launching farmer welfare schemes and programmes from time to time.
On the occasion, the DC administered the Panch Pran Pledge to the participants.
ADC Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Chief Agriculture Officer, Officers from allied departments, besides, a large number of farmers attended the camp.
Under a similar campaign, the DC inaugurated ‘Prime Minister’s Food Supplementation for Priority Households Scheme’ at DC office Kupwara in an impressive event. VC-DDC was also present.
On the occasion, Ration cards were distributed among the PHH (Priority Households) and online authentication of ration card holders was done in presence of the DC. Additional Ration was also distributed among the PHH ration card holders under the Scheme.
The DC later flagged-off a Tiranga Rally from DC office Lawns which marched up to Fountain Chowk Rigipora (Kupwara) in which ADC Kupwara, Gh. Nabi Bhat, AD Food, Wali Mohammad and other officers of District Administration Kupwara, besides, a large number of employees of the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Kupwara and beneficiaries participated.
