The district administration visited the old dilapidated home at Amnoo Kulgam on Saturday where a Kashmiri Pandit has been residing for ages in shabby conditions. Authorities instructed officers to ensure the repair of his home and improve hygiene.
A day before, a video surfaced on social media showing a Kashmiri Pandit named Pyare Lal residing alone in poor conditions.
Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, IAS, visited the home of senior citizen Shri Pyare Lal at Amnoo Kulgam and arranged for immediate assistance to be provided for his convenience.
An official said that comfortable accommodation had also been arranged for Shri Pyare Lal at the Senior Citizen Home Kulgam, along with other necessary arrangements.
DC Kulgam was seen appealing repeatedly to Pyare Lal to shift to a comfortable location with all the necessary arrangements. However, he continues to deny the shift, prompting the DC to give on-the-spot directions to all concerned departments to make necessary arrangements.
“Doctors also conducted a medical check-up on him. Since Shri Pyare Lal is reluctant on not moving to the Old Age Home, the District Social Welfare Officer Kulgam has been given the responsibility of ensuring day-to-day care, ration, medical arrangements, and other necessities for him,” the official said.
Meanwhile, Bilal Ahmad, Tehsildar Kulgam, accompanying the DC, told Rising Kashmir that the DC Sahab has given serious instructions to provide Pyare Lal with the best possible support and comfort to all concerned departments.
He said that the workers have already begun sanitation efforts, installing new furnishings, and providing daily essentials on the spot.
He said, this is why we all join public service—for the welfare of the public. “Feeling blessed to be part of this divine service under the leadership of our Noble, DC Kulgam, Athar Amir Khan (IAS), sir who is torch bearer to all of us”, he added.
