Kulgam, Feb 08: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat on Wednesday visited Kund Valley of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district to take stock of the arrangements for the ongoing annual Urs of a Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Noor Shah Saheb Wali Baghdadi (RA).
On the occasion, the DC stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure the availability of all the necessary arrangements so that the devotees do not face any inconvenience. He interacted with the Auqaf Committee members and enquired about the arrangements put in place by the administration for the smooth conduct of Urs.
The Auqaf members expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and extended gratitude to the district administration for providing all the requisite facilities to conduct the Urs smoothly.
The DC directed the officers to ensure uninterrupted power supply, safe drinking water supply, proper sanitation measures, illumination and decoration of the shrine besides healthcare facilities and security arrangements at the shrine. The ARTO informed the DC that a special bus service for devotees from Anantnag and Qazigund has been arranged for devotees.
Later, the DC also listened to the issues and demands of people at Kund. The PRI members and the general public apprised him of their issues and flagged various demands related to the development of the area.
The people demanded the construction of a community hall, installation of solar lights, posting of a Principal to Higher Secondary School and various other development requirements. The DC listened to all the demands and issues of people patiently for early redressal.
The DC during the visit was accompanied by ACR Mir Imtiyaz-ul-Aziz, ACD, Mohammad Imran Khan, CMO, Executive Engineer from PHE, KPDCL, ARTO, Tehsildar Devsar, BDO and other officers.
