The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) commenced today in 10 Panchayat Halqas of the D.K.Marg block of the district.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, presided over the inaugural function of the Yatra.

The Panchayats where the Yatra started today included Badijahalan, Gulzarabad, Chimmer A&B, Humpathri, DK Marg A, B & C, Boh and Dragden.

Yatra has been rolled out with the intention to reach out to the unreached population, and make them aware about the multitude of government schemes and the process to avail benefits.

Addressing the gathering DC highlighted the purpose behind the Yatra and  informed that the Yatra provides a platform for the departments to register unreached populations under various schemes.

Saturation of schemes along with feedback generation on government interventions and schemes, he said, forms the core of the Campaign.

Dr Bilal appreciated the enthusiastic participation of stakeholders viz. students, officials, beneficiaries, public, PRIs, and the collaborative spirit exhibited by residents and local authorities in making the inaugural function impressive.

The students and locals put up colourful cultural performances to register their determined involvement in the yatra.

Several departments had installed stalls showcasing their schemes offered by them. Distribution functions of government handouts and financial assistance were also organised on the occasion.

Flagship schemes including PM KISAN, Vishwakarma, Suraksha Beema Yojna, Jeevan Jyoti, Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, JJM, Poshan Abhiyaan and scores of other schemes including welfare, employment and income generation based schemes were either showcased or highlighted during the initial day of the yatra.

ADDC, Showkat Ahmad Rather; ADC, Vikar Ahmad Giri; SDM Noorabad, ACR, other district and block officers and officials from line departments and PRIs, also  participated in Viksit Bharat Yatra programmes in aforesaid panchayats.
