Jammu, June 26: In a significant stride towards environmental protection and sustainable urban development, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya and Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Devansh Yadav Thursday spearheaded a tree plantation drive at Jambu Lochan Rotary near Civil Secretariat.

The initiative is part of the larger “Clean Jammu, Green Jammu” campaign, an ongoing effort aimed at increasing green spaces, mitigating the impact of climate change, and promoting eco-consciousness among citizens. This campaign has become a flagship environmental movement in the city, inspiring people across wards and localities to contribute towards a greener future.

During the drive, the Deputy Commissioner and the Commissioner planted saplings alongside several senior officials, setting a powerful example of leadership in climate action. They urged citizens to take individual responsibility for preserving nature and enhancing the city’s environment through tree plantation and sustainable living practices. A large number of officials from the Jammu Municipal Corporation and Urban Forestry Division Jammu actively participated in the drive. Their presence not only ensured the operational success of the event but also demonstrated institutional support and commitment toward building an ecologically sound Jammu.  Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya, while addressing the gathering, emphasized that increasing green cover is crucial for improving air quality, reducing urban heat, and ensuring a healthier life for future generations. He called for consistent, community-led efforts and inter-departmental cooperation to address environmental challenges effectively. Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav reinforced the vision of making Jammu an environmentally vibrant city. He stressed that the Clean Jammu, Green Jammu campaign is not just about planting trees, but also about nurturing them, spreading awareness, and developing a culture that respects and protects nature. The plantation drive received overwhelming support from the local community. Residents, environmental volunteers, and social activists gathered at the venue and joined hands with officials, adding a sense of shared responsibility and public enthusiasm to the initiative.
