Jammu, Oct 06: Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya on Friday stressed upon the officers to adhere to deadlines for assigned tasks and projects. He assured that the most pressing issues would be prioritised, with the remaining matters addressed in due course.
The DC visited Garkhal Panchayat in the Akhnoor block to assess the ongoing efforts to transform the village into a Model Village. A meeting took place at the Panchayat Ghar, where the Deputy Commissioner met with PRI representatives, government functionaries and officers.
During the meeting, comprehensive discussions were held. The pace of work for the Jal Jeevan Mission was reviewed, focusing on ensuring a clean water supply for the village’s residents. Health infrastructure and facilities were addressed to enhance the well-being of Garkhal’s inhabitants.
The RDSS and Capex works of the Power Development Department were scrutinised. Challenges faced by the Agriculture Department in implementing its schemes were noted for future redressal.
Sarpanch, Kashmir Singh highlighted specific priorities, including the need for flood protection measures to safeguard farmlands, progress on a village playfield and requested upgrades for the Government High School Garkhal. Concerns related to borderland issues were also discussed.
Panchs and concerned citizens drew attention towards road conditions from Harijan Basti to Gujjar Basti, emphasising the necessity for its repair. Additionally, they sought improvement of civic amenities in camps for nomads.
The DC issued special instructions to the SDM, SHO and Tehsildar to maintain law and order and promptly address any hindrance to the village’s development.
Later, Vaishya inspected the Government High School Garkhal and interacted with the students. He advised the teachers to give special attention to students with special needs. The school infrastructure was also inspected and feedback was taken from the school authorities.
The DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harvinder Singh; Chief Planning Officer, Yoginder Katoch, SDM, Tehsildar and BDO from Akhnoor, besides other officers.
