Kisthwar, Sep 10: As part of ongoing efforts to empower farmers and promote agricultural mechanization, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pankaj Kumar Sharma Wednesday handed over a tractor key to a farmer, Mohammed Shafi, from the far-flung area of Nowpachi, Sub Division Marwah under the Farm Mechanization and Automation Scheme of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) for the year 2025-26.
The farmer received a 50 per cent subsidy, with a maximum limit of Rs 4.5 lakh, to facilitate the adoption of modern farming practices in remote areas. During the event, DC Kishtwar interacted with the beneficiary and gathered insights on how the tractor would be utilized to enhance agricultural productivity in the region. So far, four tractors have already been provided to farmer beneficiaries under the same scheme in the district. The Agriculture Department is extending subsidies ranging from 50 percent to 90 percent under various HADP initiatives to support farmers across the district. The DC urged the farmers to take advantage of the scheme to promote farm mechanization, which will enhance agricultural efficiency, reduce labour requirements and improve crop production and productivity in an economical and time-effective manner.
