Bandipora, July 22: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Saturday conducted an extensive tour of the Sadurnara area of Hajin Tehsil of district Bandipora and presided over a special public outreach program.
The tour was aimed at taking the firsthand appraisal of developmental scenarios and listening to various issues/grievances faced by the people. A large gathering including men and women, besides senior citizens, participated in the event.
On the occasion, Dr Owais received a warm welcome by the locals. They expressed their gratitude to the district administration for considering their village for Public Darbar and providing a platform to directly communicate with the authorities.
The programme was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Ali Afsar Khan; District Nodal Officer Coordination, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak; SDM Sumbal, Amir Choudhary; JDP Imtiyaz Ahmad; Executive Engineers from PHE, PDD and R&B, BDO Hajin besides concerned officers and officials.
During the program, the DC held interactive sessions with the villagers and patiently listened to their grievances and suggestions. Locals on the occasion raised issues related to healthcare facilities, drinking water, road connectivity, educational infrastructure, and power supply besides employment opportunities. They also demanded the construction of NTPHC at Sadunara, which has already been sanctioned by the government.
Dr Owais assured the villagers that their concerns and feedback would be diligently analyzed, and appropriate actions will be taken to address them. He reiterated that the district administration is committed to transparent and accountable governance. The DC assured the villagers that the administration will prioritize these sectors to enhance the overall quality of life in Sadunara Village and its surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, the DC stressed the significance of community participation in the development process. He urged the villagers to actively engage in the formulation and execution of local development plans and assured them of full support from the administration in their endeavors. A series of colorful cultural programs, including Kashmiri group songs, were displayed by the students of Government Boys High School Sadunara during the program.
