Baramulla, Dec 18: The locals and family of Sopore teenage girl have sought the expertise of a Pulwama diver to fish out the body of a teenage girl from river Jhelum.
The teenage girl who jumped in the river on December 11, has not been found till date as the rescue operation by locals and volunteers entered the 7th day on Sunday.
An official told Rising Kashmir that the search operation has been called off as the body of a Sopore teenage girl remained undetectable even after putting in a lot of efforts by teams of SDRF, MARCOS and WUCMA.
The 64-year-old expert Abdul Salaam Dar hails from Kakapora area of Pulwama in South Kashmir.
Dar, who claims to have rescued 18 lives and fished out at least 40 dead bodies from the numerous water bodies throughout the valley, is reputed to be an expert at fishing out bodies from the water.
Dar’s knowledge gained attention shortly after social media users began mentioning him in comments on postings regarding the Sopore incident.
Meanwhile, on the 7th day of the rescue operation dozens of fishermen and volunteers put their efforts in locating the teenager.
Junaid Bhat, a renowned photojournalist from Sopore who is continuously updating the situation through his social media pages has offered all the income he got from monetized pages to the family.
“Whatever income I get from videos (having more than 1 million views) of recent stories related to the Sopore incident, I am donating the same to the victim’s family. I request other Facebook page owners and journalists to do the same,” Junaid added.
