Dooru, Nov 21: The grand finale of the 2nd edition of the Dooru Shahabad Premier League (DSPL) was played on Thursday, with Daniyal Sports Sangam emerging victorious at Nadura Cricket Stadium.
The final match was contested between Kashmir Kings and Daniyal Sports Sangam. Batting first, Daniyal Sports Sangam posted a total of 226 runs. Despite some explosive knocks from Kashmir Kings’ players, they fell short by 18 runs.
Earlier, the trophy was unveiled by Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Dooru, Ghulam Ahmad Mir.
The organizers put forth several demands to improve the stadium’s facilities, including floodlights, proper dugouts, water facilities, a media room, and a roller.
“I will address these demands and do whatever is possible from my end. I will also ensure the government fulfills its responsibilities. As a start, I am contributing ₹50,000 from my own pocket to the organizers; you may decide where to utilize it,” MLA Dooru said.
A large crowd gathered at the stadium to witness the DSPL finale. Despite the cold weather, the enthusiastic spectators showcased the region’s passion for cricket.
According to the organizers, 20 teams participated, and all matches were conducted smoothly at the Nadura Cricket Ground.
Co-organizer Muzaffar Ahmad Wani said the winning team, Daniyal Sports Sangam, was awarded ₹2 lakh, while runner-up Kashmir Kings received ₹1 lakh. The tournament was organized by Wani and chief organizer Aijaz Ahmad Magray, who also chaired the event.
