Danish Javid, a gifted 10th-grade student from the serene village of Machipora in Handwara, has been chosen to participate in the esteemed Sakura Exchange Programme’s Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Programme in Science. Amid fierce competition from thousands of candidates across the country, Danish Javid’s selection stood out due to his groundbreaking creation—a versatile, multipurpose stove. Showcased at the illustrious National Level Exhibition and Project Competition (NLEPC), Danish’s project received widespread recognition and appreciation.
The Sakura Exchange Programme, renowned for fostering international cooperation and cultural exchange in the fields of science and technology, offers young minds from different nations a unique platform to interact, collaborate, and learn from each other’s scientific advancements. As the youngest of three siblings and a student at Government Boys High School, Danish drew inspiration for his model stove from his local surroundings. He observed the contribution of traditional chimneys and stoves used in Kashmir to air pollution, which ignited his innovative journey to create a multipurpose stove.
Guided by his mentor, Abbas, Danish meticulously developed and refined his model. Danish expressed heartfelt gratitude to Abbas, recalling how their research and development process took them to various places.
