Srinagar, July 10: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed J&K, Anand Jain, on Thursday urged police personnel to stay away from drug abuse, online gaming addiction, and rising cyber frauds targeting security forces.Addressing officers at IRP 4th Battalion in Kupwara, Jain said such habits are eroding discipline and pose serious risks to operational effectiveness. “There is zero tolerance for drugs and digital distractions in the force. Discipline, fitness, and focus are non-negotiable,” he said.ADGP Jain cautioned that online gaming is emerging as a silent addiction among youth in uniform, weakening mental sharpness and readiness. You are not just being watched on the ground but in cyberspace too. One careless click can compromise security, he said.On the occasion, ADGP Anand Jain also inspected the newly constructed infrastructure of the Border 2nd Battalion at Wayen, Kupwara. He reviewed the quality and progress of the ongoing construction works and issued on-the-spot directions to ensure timely completion of all pending projects.ADGP Jain further directed the Commandant of the Border Battalion to shift the unit’s office to the new premises without delay. Commending the personnel deployed in the strategically significant border district of Kupwara, he also lauded their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to duty.He was accompanied by Junaid Mehmood, IPS, DIG IRP Kashmir, and Munir Ahmad, SSP APCR Kashmir.Earlier on his arrival, the ADGP was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by a smart contingent of IRP 4th Battalion. He conducted a comprehensive inspection of the battalion campus, including the Battalion Kot, Mess, MT fleet, Equipment Store, and Main Office.Later ADGP Jain interacted with officers and police personnel. Later presided over a Darbar of the battalion personnel and listened to their grievances.Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Junaid Mehmood also highlighted the importance of striking a balance between welfare and duty, stating that both must go hand in hand for a motivated and efficient police force.“The well-being of personnel is directly linked to their performance and morale on the ground. DIG lauded the unit for discharging a wide range of responsibilities with exemplary dedication, discipline, and commitment,” he said.
