Srinagar, Nov 01: The Jammu and Kashmir Government hosted a grand cultural evening in Srinagar to celebrate the Foundation Day of eight states and five Union Territories.
Special invitees to this festive event included students, security personnel, and the people hailing from Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Puducherry, Delhi, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to the citizens of these States and Union Territories commemorating their Foundation Day. He emphasised that the event was a celebration of India’s unity in diversity, fostering a sense of togetherness.
“The unique traditions and heritage of every region contribute to India’s rich tapestry, and they are all dedicated to shaping a prosperous future for our nation,” remarked the Lt. Governor. He went on to say that this celebration embodied the timeless values of India’s multi-lingual, multi-cultural, multi-religious, and multi-ethnic character.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for promoting the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,’ which has bridged geographical distances and strengthened social and cultural connections, Manoj Sinha praised the deep bond and harmonious co-existence that has now become a model for the world.
The cultural evening featured mesmerising performances by artists showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the respective States and Union Territories.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Dr. Mandeep Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor; Vijay Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; Sujit Kumar, DIG CKR Srinagar; Mohammad Aijaz, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar; Bharat Singh Manhas, Secretary JKAACL; along with senior officials from the Civil and Police Administration and Security Forces.
