CUK’s Edu Deptt holds workshop on ‘Draft National Credit Framework’

Ganderbal, Dec 1: Department of Education, Central University of Kashmir (CUK), organised a one-day workshop on “Draft National Credit Framework” in which students, research scholars, faculty and the university administration participated. 
Speaking on the occasion, Registrar, Prof M Afzal Zargar discussed the draft documenting detail and highlighted how this guiding and comprehensive framework would enable the integration of academic and vocational domains of education besides ensuring flexibility and mobility between them. He explained how it will also enable dropouts who are out of mainstream education to re-enter the education ecosystem.
Dean School of Education, Prof Syed Zahoor Ahmad Geelani highlighted the importance of the National Credit Framework. He discussed how this framework will open new options for further progression of students and stressed the active participation of students, who are the real stakeholders in deliberating on such documents. 
Asst Prof. Department of Politics and Governance, Dr Khalid Waseem reflected upon the importance of acknowledging and creditising the vocations at the local level. Asst Prof, Department of IT, Er Afaq Alam highlighted the weak links of the draft document. Deliberating upon the National Credit Framework, Asst Prof, Dr Mohammad Sayid Bhat highlighted how this document will equip the future workforce with the knowledge and employable skills which are imperative for the economic growth of the country. 
During the discussions, research scholars and students raised specific and genuine queries about the document, which the experts addressed on the spot. As desired by the Ministry of Education, some relevant suggestions framed in the workshop were sent to the concerned authority for the consideration. Scholar Andleeb Shaif, conducted the programme while Mr Waheed Ahmad proposed the vote of thanks.
