Ganderbal, Aug 01: Dr. Sukanya Ghosh, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, has been selected as an Associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc)-2024.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, congratulated Dr. Ghosh for the achievement. “This accolade not only brings immense pride to our university, but also inspires our academic community to strive for greater heights,” he said, adding that her selection as an Associate is a testament to her dedication and impactful work.
Dr. Ghosh expresses her gratitude to Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ravinder Nath, for encouraging her to apply for this Associateship and recommending her application to IASc. She thanked her PhD supervisor Prof. Shobhana Narasimhan and postdoc mentors (Prof. Nadia Binggeli, Prof. Biplab Sanyal and Dr. Elton J G Santos) for their support.
Initiated in 1983, the programme recognizes young talented scientists working in India and encourages them to get involved in IASc activities. One of the main activities of the Academy is publication of journals in major areas of the Sciences. The Academy organises summer internship programmes for senior Undergraduate and Masters’ level students, Workshops and Refresher Courses for Teachers. Dr. Ghosh will contribute actively to various activities of the Academy.
Dr. Ghosh obtained her Ph.D from the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore and did her first postdoc at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Italy. She did her second postdoc at Uppsala University, Sweden.
