CSIR-IIIM & RARI celebrates 8th Ayurveda Day

Jammu, Nov 02: CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu and Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Jammu have jointly celebrated 8th National Ayruveda Day here on Thursday at CSIR-IIIM Campus Jammu. During the daylong event to commemorate the Ayurveda Day, a series of activities which include Ayurveda Medical Camp and popular lectures on “Ayurveda for One Health” by Dr. Sanjay K. Singh, Assistant Director I/C RARI, Jammu and Dr. Gopesh K. Sharma. Research Officer RARI, Jammu were conducted under the supervision of Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu and Dr. Sanjay K. Singh, Assistant Director I/C RARI, Jammu   
The medical camp was inaugurated by Director, CSIR-IIIM Jammu, Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, who while speaking on the occasion has emphasized on the role of Indian traditional medicine in providing the cost effective and quality healthcare to masses. He further stated that the focal theme for Ayurveda day-2023 is ‘Ayurveda for One Health’ with Tag line ‘Ayurveda for everyone on every day’ i.e., ‘Har din har kisi ke liye Ayurveda’ focusing on human-animal-plant-environment interface.” And added that Ayurveda, one of the oldest known medical systems is not just ancient wisdom, rather it is a living legacy that champions the promotion of health and the prevention of the disease. Dr. Ahmed also mentioned that in compliance to the directive of CSIR Society wherein in it was emphasized to do scientific validation of Indian System of medicines, in the near future, CSIR domains labs would collaborate with AYUSH to work out mission projects. 
In a press handout, it was informed that a total of 150 patients were checked during the Ayruveda Medical Camp.  
Later in the evening, special lectures on the topic “Ayurveda for One Health” were delivered by Dr Sanjay K. Singh, Assistant Director I/C, Dr. Gopesh K. Sharma, Research Officer, RARI, Jammu. The speakers threw light on the holistic approach of Ayurveda in treatment of diseases, principles of Ayurveda, the history of Ayurveda, its ancient roots in Indian civilization, benefits of Ayurveda on modern medicine, its world wide acceptability, increasing popularity. 
Prominent among others present were Er. Abdul Rahim, Head RMBD&IST and Head IIIM (Branch) Srinagar, Dr Asha Chaubey, HOD FMB Division, Dr Dhiraj Vyas, Head PSA Division, Dr Sumit Gandhi, Head, IDD Division, Dr. Deepika Singh, Head, QMI Division, Dr. Shashank K. Singh, Senior Principal Scientist, Dr. Mohd. Jamal Dar ,Dr Parvinder Pal Singh, Dr Bhahwal Ali Shah, Dr Prasoon Gupta, (Principal Scientists),.
Dr Gurleen Kaur, Scientist, conducted the proceeding and Dr. Sheikh Tasduq Abdullah, Nodal Scientist Ayurveda Day Celebration presented the vote of thanks.
