Srinagar, July 24: In a remarkable display of camaraderie and sportsmanship, the 117 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), kickstarted the eagerly-awaited Inter-Battalion Badminton Tournament on Monday at the Sher E Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex (SKISC) in Srinagar.
The tournament aims to promote teamwork and unity among the battalions and Group Centre deployments within the jurisdiction of Srinagar Sector.
The tournament’s opening ceremony was graced by Sh. Biplab Sarkar, Commandant of the 117 Battalion, CRPF, and Sh. Jitendra Mohan Shilswal, Second-In-Command, along with Sh. Abhiram Pankaj, Second-in-Command, and other officers and personnel from the 117 Battalion, alongside representatives from various participating units. The presence of Mohammad Iqbal, manager of SKISC, added an extra touch of prestige to the event.
Thanks to the generous support of the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, the SKISC provided the perfect venue for this thrilling competition. Qualified referees from the SKISC were also appointed to ensure fair play and maintain the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
A total of 22 teams, comprising 66 talented players from different battalions of the Srinagar Sector, are participating in this annual sporting extravaganza. Beyond the quest for the championship title, the tournament fosters a sense of unity and understanding among the CRPF personnel, giving them a chance to connect and build lasting relationships beyond their usual professional duties.
Commandant Biplab Sarkar, visibly delighted to inaugurate the event, emphasized the significance of sports in creating a cohesive environment within the force. He stated, “This tournament provides an opportunity for our men and officers to showcase their prowess on the badminton court while simultaneously strengthening the bonds that are vital for our collective mission to safeguard and serve our nation.”
As the badminton enthusiasts take to the court, they not only represent their respective units but also epitomize the spirit and dedication of the Central Reserve Police Force. The event promises three days of intense competition, fierce battles, and memorable moments, as players showcase their skills and teamwork.
The 117 Battalion extends heartfelt gratitude to the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council for their invaluable support in making this event possible. They also express sincere appreciation to the referees, whose impartial officiating will ensure the tournament’s integrity and uphold the essence of true sportsmanship.
With high spirits and a determined mindset, the Inter-Unit Badminton Tournament is set to leave a lasting impact, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among the CRPF personnel and reinforcing the force’s commitment to excellence, both on and off the field.
