Srinagar, Jan 30: The crescent moon marking the start of the Islamic month of Shabaan has been sighted, confirming that the first of Shabaan will be observed on January 31.
Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Nasir-ur-Islam, officially announced the sighting, stating, “The crescent has been sighted, and we have received witness reports confirming the sighting.”
Shabaan is a significant month for Muslims, with the holy night of Shab-e-Baraat, falling on the 14th night, being particularly revered. It is a time for Muslims to engage in prayer, seek forgiveness, and reflect on their actions. The announcement marks the beginning of a period of spiritual reflection and preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. Muslims across Kashmir are now preparing for the observance of Shabaan, with special prayers and activities expected to take place throughout the month.
