In a bold move to enhance road safety, Baramulla district has ramped up its enforcement against traffic violators, collecting an impressive Rs 3.65 lakh in fines over the past ten days. Spearheaded by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Muazzam Ali, these ongoing efforts aim to instill a culture of compliance and safety among drivers.

Key achievements of the enforcement drive include the seizure of 12 cabs and 8 motorcycles, issuance of 296 challans to traffic offenders, realization of Rs 3.65 lakh in penalties, distribution of showcause notices to over 50 drivers for potential suspension of their licenses, and the suspension of 20 driving licenses to date.

These rigorous checks have taken place across Sopore, Baramulla, and Tangmarg towns, as well as along the National Highway near Tapper Pattan. ARTO Muazzam Ali has assured that this campaign, driven by the directives of senior officers in the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), will continue in other towns such as Uri and Rafiabad in the coming days.”Recent months have seen tragic losses due to road accidents.

Our mission is to prevent such incidents by ensuring every driver follows traffic rules. Motorcyclists must wear helmets and drive cautiously,” stated ARTO Muazzam Ali.
