Srinagar: Dec 26: The Communist Party of India (CPI) Jammu and Kashmir unit on Thursday held a function at its headquarters here to mark the party’s centenary celebrations.
Senior party leaders highlighted the role and contribution of the party during the pre and post-Independence era. “CPI has an illustrious history of 100 and during this period, it fought for the marginalised and excluded sections of the society,” a party spokesperson said in a statement.
He said the 100th anniversary of the CPI marks a historic milestone, commemorating a century of struggle, resilience, and steadfast dedication to the ideals of socialism.
The spokesperson said the communist movement in India gained momentum following the Bolshevik revolution. “Since its inception in 1925, CPI has always stood for the democratic rights of people and struggled hard to make the conditions of the working class better,” he said.
“CPI is committed to promoting social justice, equality and the empowerment of the working class while striving to uphold the principles of secularism and socialism,” the spokesperson added.
