Contraband worth crores destroyed in B’la

Baramulla, Dec 30: The District Level Drug Disposal Committee in Baramulla executed the destruction of a substantial quantity of seized drugs and psychotropic substances in accordance with section 52A of the NDPS Act.
This operation took place at Kashmir Health Care System, IGC Lassipora, in the presence of a constituted committee.
A police official said that the contraband substances, stemming from 27 cases across Police Station Uri, Boniyar, Pattan, Kreeri, Kunzer, and Tangmarg, were destroyed.
“The seized items included 6.303 Kgs of Heroin, 63.413 Kgs of Poppy Straw, 207 gms of Ganja, 652 grams of Cannabis, 600 gms of Cannabis Powder, 3.950 Kgs of Bang Bosa, 953 gms of Charas, 1.120 Kgs of Charas Powder and 127 gms of Fukki, collectively worth crores were also destroyed,” the official said.
The constituted committee, headed by DySP DAR District Police Line Baramulla, included DySP ANTF Kashmir, DySP CID CI Pulwama, Executive Magistrate Kunzer, Reader to SSP Baramulla, Field Inspector of Pollution Control board, IC Godown, and other Police officers from the district.
Baramulla Police had previously undertaken a similar initiative in July 2023, destroying seized contraband substances from 32 cases across various Police Stations in the district.
The destroyed substances included 6.376 gms of Charas, 32.900 kgs of Poppy Straw, 14.289 kgs of Heroin, and 18 gms of Brown Sugar, collectively worth crores.
During the operation, residents of the area engaged with the officers, expressing gratitude for their hard work, professionalism, and commitment toward creating a drug-free society.
