Srinagar Nov 26: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Saturday observed Constitution Day at its Srinagar office and commemorated its adoption in India stating that the constitution reflects the idea of Secular India and diversity in the country which is based on justice and equality.
A function was held in this regard which was chaired by senior party leader and former legislator Advocate Ghulam Nabi Monga. On the occasion participants threw light on the significance of the Constitution while saluting its architect Dr.BR Ambedkar for his vision and leadership qualities.
Speaking on the occasion Monga said Constitution Day, also known as National Law Day, is celebrated on November 26 to commemorate its adoption.
“On November 26, 1949 the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution which came into effect on 26 Jan 1950, ensuring equal treatment and justice to every section of the people living in the country,” he said.
The Constitution reflects the Idea of Secular India, diversity in the country which is based on justice and equality, Monga added.
Hailing great contributions of father of Indian Constitution Senior congress Leader Mohammad Anwar Bhat saluted Dr.BR Ambedkar’s vision and alacrity towards the empowerment and equal treatment to every section of the people besides putting an end to discrimination with weaker sections.
He said the role played by Dr. Ambedkar shall continue to inspire the generations and enlighten them about the significance and uniqueness of the Indian Constitution.
The Constitution Day was also observed by District Congress Committees Anantnag, Baramulla, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Srinagar and other districts in which Congress leaders and Prominent workers participated and hailed great contributions of Dr. Ambedkar.
