Jammu, Aug 12: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President Raman Bhalla on Tuesday reiterated his party’s commitment to safeguard the interests of all sections of society.
“The victory of Congress in the upcoming polls is the solution to every problem,” he said while addressing the block-level meetings here. He directed the party leaders and office bearers to continue with their awareness campaign against BJP’s “wrong policies and programmes”. “Congress will not allow anyone to barter the interests of J&K people for their own nefarious interests,” he said.
During the meeting, Bhalla reviewed the ground activities of the party in Jammu district and took stock of various organisational initiatives and matters. He asked the party leaders to work closely with the grassroots workers in addressing pressing public issues and concerns in their respective areas.
“Our workers are the backbone of the party and all efforts should be made to involve the youth in evolving ways to strengthen the party and also reach out to the people who are facing the worst possible era of misgovernance and political instability due to the opportunistic government at the helm in J&K,” he said.
He asserted that Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi is “relentlessly fighting for the restoration of the fundamental rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”. The party firmly believes in upholding the principles of democracy and ensuring that every citizen enjoys the freedoms and liberties enshrined in the Constitution, he said.
The JKPCC leader added, “The struggle for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir is not a short-term battle; it is a long-term commitment. Congress has all along strived for strengthening democracy at all the levels to have optimum participation of people in decision making and shaping their own destiny.”
Bhalla called upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir to stand strong and united and join hands with the party in its mission. “Together, we can pave the way for a brighter future, where democracy prevails and fundamental rights are upheld,” he added.
The Congress leader accused the double engine government led by the BJP at the Centre of betraying the people of J&K. He called on the party’s workers to “actively counter the misleading campaigns propagated by BJP leaders”.
“It is our duty as members of the Congress to step up and counter these negative narratives with truth and integrity as Congress has always stood for the aspirations of our people,” he said. “Our role is not just to contest elections but to be the voice of the people.”
