Samba, July 30: Former minister and Pradesh Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Surjeet Singh Slathia on Tuesday said the NDA government has undertaken several initiatives in the mission mode to address the challenges faced by these marginalised communities.
He reiterated the BJP‘s “unwavering commitment” to the upliftment and empowerment of Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes (SC), and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
Addressing the OBC Morcha Sammelan at Samba and ST Morcha Sammelan at Chak Medu Gujjran in Samba, Slathia said, “The BJP believes that the progress of the nation is intrinsically linked to the progress of its marginalized communities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been steadfast in his government’s resolve to create opportunities for every segment of the society to ensure that no one is left behind and benefits of various schemes accrue to the last person.”
He accused the INDI Alliance, especially the Congress, of creating division among people on the basis of caste and region, saying this is dangerous for the harmonious growth of the society. He called upon the people to “unitedly fight these machinations which were jeopardising the growth of the country”.
The BJP leader cautioned them against the “malicious propaganda being unleashed over reservation policy”, saying this is being done to play with the sensitivities of the stakeholders just for vote bank politics.
Slathia said the NDA government under PM Modi is dedicated to building a nation where every individual, irrespective of their background, has the opportunity to thrive. The upliftment of OBC, SC, and ST communities is not just a priority but a moral imperative for the BJP, he added.
He referred to the key initiatives like increased scholarship and financial aid for OBC, SC and ST students, besides expansion of educational infrastructure, particularly in the remote and rural areas, saying these are aimed at providing level play fields among these sections of the society.
The former minister expressed satisfaction over the enterprising youth of these segments benefiting from skill development programs and hoped that those in the rural areas to avail of the credit and financial services for small businesses. “Promotion of entrepreneurship through targeted schemes holds key to their economic empowerment,” he said, adding that schemes have been tailored for ameliorating the lot of every segment of these communities in consonance with ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’.
