Jammu, Feb 06: As part of its nationwide programme, the Congress Party on Monday held protest demonstration at Jammu in support of its demand for a probe by the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) over the alleged irregularities by Adani Group.
Scores of Congress Party workers, led by JKPCC President, Vikar Rasool, former minister Raman Bhalla, JKPCC Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma and other leaders assembled at Shaheedi Chowk and held a strong protest demonstration raising slogans against the BJP government.
“The BJP Government is working only for 2 to 3 corporates and the common man is suffering,” they alleged.
The Congress Party workers also had a scuffle with Police which erected barricades so that the protesters do not move ahead.
“A JPC should be set up to probe the allegations against irregularities committed by Adani Group,” the protesters kept demanding raising slogans during the demonstration.
While addressing the protesters and the media persons on the occasion, the JKPCC President, Vikar Rasool said this BJP Government is working for a couple of corporates and is making the common masses to suffer.
He also came down heavily on the BJP Government over the ongoing drive against encroachment.
“This drive against encroachment is injustice with the poor and common masses as their livelihood is being snatched,” Rasool said adding, “The BJP did nothing for the people of J&K and is only working for the interest of few corporate houses which are looting public money”.
Ravinder Sharma said the issue of investment of peoples’ money through SBI and LIC in the Adani group is “a matter of grave concern and JPC must be constituted to probe the matter as it concerns common masses”.
