Srinagar, Sep 19. Srinagar District Congress Committee on Tuesday staged protests against the “failed policies” of the government.
“Senior Congress leaders, block presidents and prominent workers of Srinagar protested against the Jal Shakti scam, which was recently exposed by a senior bureaucrat of J&K, besides installation of smart meters, property, toll and others taxes, including peak unemployment and raised slogans against anti-people policies adopted by both Central government and LG Administration towards J&K,” the party said in a statement issued here.
They demanded a CBI investigation into Jal Shakti Abhiyaan to identify the officials responsible for looting public money.
The protesting Congress leaders and workers slammed the installation of smart meters saying people, especially the poor, are facing economic distress and are not even able to make their ends meet.
They also raised the unemployment issue and various other issues including “forceful property, water, toll taxes thrust upon the people by the BJP government”.
The Congress leaders blamed the government for failing to address the issues. They vowed to continue fighting against the BJP’s “anti-people and anti-poor” policies.
