Srinagar, Jan 06: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Saturday accorded a rousing reception to newly-appointed All India Congress Committee AICC J&K Incharge and former Union Minister Bharatsinh Solanki and AICC General Secretary Incharge West Bengal/Jharkhand G A Mir on their arrival at Banihal and Anantnag.
JKPCC Chief Vikar Rasool Wani and other senior leaders of the party accompanied both Solanki and Mir while Congress workers in large numbers assembled at Banihal and Anantnag to welcome the leaders.
Later, the leaders addressed a massive Congress worker’s convention at Dak-Bungalow Khanbal in Anantnag district where they asserted that Congress will put in its strenuous efforts to wipe out BJP and fight the upcoming Lok Sabha elections with great vigour and vitality, the party said in a statement.
Addressing the convention, Solanki said, “Congress Party is fully prepared to overcome the divisive and misleading politics of BJP, which is responsible for the chaos and confusion in the country. Although many tall claims are being made to build the fake narrative about inclusive development, employment generation and many other things about the public, the reality is contrary to the ground situation.”
Reacting to the current socio-political and security situation in J&K, Solanki added, “There is restlessness among the public in Jammu and Kashmir given the denial of democratic rights aiming to disempower them politically and economically.”
He said the Congress Party will ensure “respite” to the people of J&K by defeating the “designs and wrong policies” of the BJP. He urged the party workers to feel strong and work harder.
G A Mir in his address termed the Congress a “hope for all Indians”. “Congress has given sacrifices for the nation, which could not be replaced by anything,” he said.
“The uncompromising fight of Congress Party against the BJP’s open loot, misleading and vendetta politics shall continue, till it (BJP) is wiped out. People want change, which is set to happen in the country for the betterment of the public, besides inclusive development of India,” Mir added.
Speaking on the occasion, JKPCC Chief Vikar Rasool Wani said, “The BJP’s divisive policies are unacceptable.” He said the Congress Party is capable enough to defeat the “designs” of the BJP, which he said is “hell-bent upon dividing people on religious lines for electoral gains”.
