Jammu, Feb 19: Former minister and UT Vice President of the Congress, Yashpal Kundal, on Monday called for the need for a special development and employment package for border areas, citing their unique challenges and distinct aspirations.
During his extensive visit and interactions with the people of various villages in the Ramgarh Assembly Constituency, Kundal said there is a pressing need for infrastructural development and improved utility services in the areas adjacent to the International Border, which have suffered the most.
The Congress leader expressed concern over the rising unemployment among the youth in the Ramgarh Assembly Constituency, coupled with reduced employment opportunities in the industrial sector. He underscored the importance of addressing this issue to prevent vulnerable youth from falling into the trap of drug addiction.
Advocating for reservation for local youth in the industrial units of Samba & Bari Brahmana, Kundal emphasized the potential for skilled and unskilled youth from adjoining areas to gain employment opportunities.
Asserting that the Congress party has emerged as a beacon of hope in Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of India, Kundal highlighted widespread disappointment among the public towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Kundal also addressed the plight of thousands of daily wagers who have been struggling for their rights for years. He urged the Prime Minister, who was visiting J&K, to make an announcement regarding the regularization of daily wagers within the next 30-60 days.
During the occasion, several individuals influenced by the policies of the Congress party joined its fold. Kundal encouraged the new members to actively promote the party’s policies and raise awareness at the grassroots level to strengthen its position.
