Jammu, March 13: J&K Congress unit on Monday held a protest demonstration at Jammu against the government demanding restoration of statehood, rollback of property tax, employment to youth, engaging of APTECH Company by SSB, Adani issue etc.
According to reports, the Congress workers led by JKPCC President, Vikar Rasool Wani, Working President, Raman Bhalla and other leaders, assembled at Maharaja Hari Singh Park and held a strong protest demonstration raising slogans against the BJP Government as well as the J&K UT administration.
The protesting Congress workers raised slogans and demanded Statehood to J&K, holding of assembly elections in J&K besides roll back of property tax.
The protesting workers then tried to move towards Raj Bhawan from Hari Singh Park to lodge their protest. However, after some distance they were stopped by Police from moving towards Raj Bhawan.
The protesters had a minor scuffle with Police as they tried to move towards Raj Bhawan after which the JKPCC President, Vikar Rasool, who was leading the protest, and other leaders namely Raman Bhalla, Yogesh Sawhney and others were taken into preventive custody.
“We were protesting in a peaceful way and were trying to move towards Raj Bhawan to lodge our protest but Police didn’t allow us,” Vikar Rasool said on the occasion.
